The Americans got "chewing tobacco", we Taiwanese got the "betel nut", also called the "Taiwanese chewing gum".
It's the seed of the betel palm, chewed with betel leaves, lime, and flavorings as a mild stimulant.
Betel nut addicts chew it, then spit it. The saliva they spit is RED. Many foreigners thought they were spitting BLOOD... lol
Don't ask me what it tastes like. I never tried it and I never will.
However, I'm very interested in the bright gaudy apple-green signboards :)

Tesco... there's a bug in my nuts!
So I don't normally upload these kinds of images but I thought I'd share this with the world. I went and bought lunch today from a Tesco supermarket in Kings Cross, London. Being all healthy-like I bought some nuts. Take a close look at the picture and see what I found crawling in my SEALED bag...
