CORSET 2: Inside View

CORSET 2: Inside View

This is the 2nd corset I created with a different style of pleater tape, with CF closure:

*Strips of 4" pleater tape were sewn together vertically to create 1 long piece, 8" high and approx. 45" long.
*I began sewing small 1/4" "fisheye" darts along the piece, placing them in the same area as princess seams.
*After fitting the piece on my own waist, I added more darts at the sides & back to accomodate the curves.
*Ridgline boning is then added in between darts, with S/N zig-zag stitch through center of boning.
NOTE: It's very important to finish the ends of boning so the little nylon threads don't poke through. I round off each end with sissors and melt the edge with a lighter.
*1" twill tape is sewn through center of piece for waist reinforcement. This is crucial!
*Top and bottom edges are finished off with 1" single fold bias tape.

CORSET 1: Inside View

This is the 1st corset I created with the pleater tape media, with CB closure.

*2 pieces 4" wide pleater tape were sewn together horizontally. Edges are overlapped 1/4" and sewn with S/N zig-zag.
*"Fisheye" darts were sewn in to fit my waist/torso area.
*Ridgeline boning was sewn in between darts with staight stitch. This stitch method I later updated to zig-zag for improved quality.
*The entire outside was painted in an Egyptian motif for a "Zombie Cleopatra" costume.
