Rudbeckia - First two flowers
I have a whole row of these along the fence line on one side of house. Thought when the first two bloomed they would be all yellow flowers, but to my delight got a couple variations as others have bloomed. Grew from seed last year, bloomed this year. Only gets afternoon sun, and partial at that, so flowers in front of them are suffering as they shade them so not much development.
Lythrum
Altho an invasive pest in other parts of the country, this perennial is very well behaved in these mountains. In fact, we wish it WOULD spread a bit. but, it frustratingly stays in only one place....EXACTLY where it was planted. It is so hot here in the height of Summer, that this plant does better in partial shade.
