At Home Wheel Alignment
Wheel alignment is part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are set to the car maker's specification.
The adjustment of various components to meet predetermined specifications for camber, caster, toe and ride height.
Aligning a vehicle's wheels, by checking and, if necessary, resetting front and/or rear suspension and steering angles to the manufacturer's specifications. Uneven tire wear or steering that pulls can indicate a need to have the wheel alignment checked or adjusted.

A bit of a gongshow day.
Sugar had a chiropractic appointment this morning with Cheryl Levesque, a well-known equine chiropractor and massage therapist from Prince George. I've used her in the past and it always seems to help Sugar. Today was definitely the most dramatic response I've seen in Sugar to this kind of treatment. She had five vertebrae out of alignment, and after Cheryl adjusted them, Sugar went from quiet and placid to eagerly looking towards the arena and pulling on the leadrope, as if desperate to go out there. It was unusual, because normally when Sugar gets bored or impatient when she's tied up in the aisle, she'll want to go back into her stall - not outside to the arena. When Cheryl was done with Sugar, I took her out to the arena like she seemed to want - and after letting her loose in there, she went for a quick roll, and then absolutely exploded with energy. She let out some big bronco bucks and then ran around bucking, rearing and playing for a good ten minutes. I haven't seen her so energetic and comfortable in months and months! It was wonderful to see and I even got to borrow Darlene's camera to capture some of it. She's going to burn the photos to CD for me and when I get them, I'll post them here.
Later this afternoon, I was in my room on my computer when my mom came in to tell me that my dad was in the hospital. He jumped up onto a chair to take a photo of one of their Olympic venue setups (he works in the media), not realizing that it was an office chair with wheels. Needless to say, he bailed off the chair and fractured his Tibia bone in his leg, as well as badly injured his ACL tendon in his knee.
So, my dad is out of commission for a while :-( Cross your fingers for a quick recovery! He's at home now with a big removable cast that I call his "space boot".
Mechanical toe gauge and scribe.
Toe gauge or "toe stick" and scribe used for measuring the toe in/out while doing wheel alignment work in the time before computers were common. Some shops such as the one where I was working the time still use these tools. They are still effective enough that I use them for oversize vehicles and field work. By the time this photo was taken I had started "The Alignment Guy" and was was already doing computer alignments at home.
