Grinding Wheel Grit
- A wheel used for cutting, grinding, or finishing metal or other objects, and typically made of abrasive particles bonded together

This is a water powered grits grinding mill, which is still an operating mill today by the national park service. The wooden water sluice channel dumps water, that is diverted from a nearby creek, onto the top of the large wooden wheel.
