China Buffet Furniture

Living Room Buffet Cabinet
This is a picture of our buffet cabinet or whatever you may want to call it. It is solid Huanghuali with a red stain on it so it is more of a red color than the typical honey yellow. I use it as a liquor cabinet. On top of it are several things. Starting from the left hand side is a gold statue of a Nepalese fetrility goddess. I have never seen another one like it except for one on the internet. It is a goddess with a body of a coiled up snake. Next to it is a Chinese checkers board that my dad made for me. In the middle is a large pig where we put all out extra change. A good symbol for good fortune. It was given to me by some friends of mine in China when I left Beijing. Next to it is a cup (can't remember what it was for) with two wooden blocks in it. Those blocks are a puzzle made by my dad. The blocks can be fit together to form a pyramid. It is much harder than it looks but the solution is very simple. Finally on the right is a carved fan given to us by one of H's friends when we left Shanghai. Above the cabinet is a Chines ecalligraphy that was doen for me and means good fortune. On the left hand side beside the cabinet is one of my African stools.
