Car Wheel Chocks
- Wheel chocks (or chocks) are wedges of sturdy material placed behind a vehicle's wheels to prevent accidental movement. Chocks are placed for safety in addition to setting the brakes. The bottom surface is sometimes coated in rubber to enhance grip with the ground.

A few years ago, when Bella (Stefan's daughter) was told the story of something that had happened on an afternoon here on the pier, she rendered this drawing.
Scotty was doing some mechanic work on the side, replacing brakes, shocks and a few other items on a small Toyota. Scotty's attention to detail allowed him to forget to chock the wheels, so while he was laying underneath the car, she started to and successfully rolled backwards, off of the car-stands and on to Scotty's chest.
Responding to shrill screams (not from Scott. he feeling rather stifled at the time) coming from the warehouse, I immediately ran out to see a few people standing, staring at his legs protruding from underneath the car. I simply grabbed the wheel well and raised the car enough for Scott to slip out from underneath, similar to slipping a sheet of paper from a stack.
Bella's version is much more appealing.
Runaway Truck Stopped By Concrete Power Pole
This truck sped down a hill after parking brakes failed. Even the wheel chocks failed to hold it on the steep hill. Worker in truck bed jumped. Two poles destroyed on the way down the hill, narrowly missing the house and parked car by a few inches. Concrete and rebarb stretched three feet. Truck and pole totaled. Pole replaced and electrical service restored in six hours. Hats off to Mexico CFE. Great job!
