The Root Of The Problem

I was walking through the Nursing Home the other day and spotted a giant pink flower in a vase. The Home is filled with many beautiful silk flowers and so I presumed this was a silk flower too. This triggered the memory of an incident that I feel may have shaped me into who I am, so I thought I would share it with you.
No butterflies are injured here, but if you read carefully you might find an uncomfortable trend….
So here is what happened.
Many years ago I was visiting with my Mom in Boca Raton Florida.
I decided to take a break and headed over to the shopping mall.
Now, shopping malls are a little different in Boca… no JC Pennys, K Marts or Sears here… just one exclusive (read expensive) shop after another. Hundreds of them.
I was cruising around from store to store (no reason to go slowly at those prices) when I happened through a Bergdorf Goodman and spotted the absolutely best looking silk orchids I have ever seen. I was a little late so I was rushing, but just couldn’t get over how real they looked.
But for $250 each, I guess they should have looked that real!
As I breezed by, my right hand casually reached out to feel the silky essence of these amazing blooms. As I squeezed the petals I was amazed at how real they actually felt and my hand lingered just a moment too long. To my surprise the bloom came off in my hand, and to my horror as my hand closed I heard a crunching sound just as I realized that the blossom WAS real!
Out of the corner of my eye I think I read something along the lines of rare blooming… only once yearly… if you’re lucky (okay, I added that last one just for the poetic license of it all)..... do not touch!
I must confess, I continued to rush through the store, the whole while clutching in my hand a very squashed $250 flower!
My poor Mom never did understand why, when she wanted to go shopping , I would drag her hours in each direction instead of just heading over to that mall!!!!
So, as you may have already figured, that blossom in the Nursing Home was real – a gorgeous, gigantic peony and I had it trapped between my fingers… but… just in the nick of time, I released it and continued on!
For some reason that seemed to have spurned a need to post many peony macros recently… and to wonder if this was indeed the root of my very peculiar crunching problem....
For those who are confused by the crunching problem reference, please check out my Accidents I Tell You set and it will all start to make sense... if you can call it that!!! LOL!
