(Edit: Thursday, Sept. 17th 2009.

So... lesson learned. NEVER listen to my dad when it comes to anything medical. He told me that i "shattered" my left radius. WRONG. so wrong in fact, that i did the exact opposite. I snapped my radius off in a clean break. I got x-rays done, i have a plate with 11 screws in my wrist, i broke off the tip of my ulna, so there's a pin with a fastener around that, and i had to get one of the pins pulled out of my thumb. WEIRDEST FEELING EVER! )

~~The Story goes a little like this... I was going down a road (nighttime) that i had not been down before, and it had a slight hill to it. i mean really slight. and around where i live it's not uncommon to be driving on a well lit road then all the sudden have no more street lights. That's pretty much what i though was going on, i saw building lights up ahead, and headlights of cars that were on the freeway, so i thought the street went straight (er than it did).

But oh man was i wrong, the street hooks a pretty gnarly left. not intersection type left, but close enough. I saw the turn, tried stopping (if you don't know, you can't stop and turn on a motorcycle. well at least not the type of stopping i was doing) but couldn't in time. i locked up the back wheel for a second, then a second time and held it.

There's something sureal about flying through the air when you don't expect it. i flew (what i believe to be) 40 or 50 feet before i came to a stop. when i did stop, i looked over, and saw my shoe fall (i'm guessing it went pretty damn high).

I got up, put my shoe on, and thought 'well i hope i can ride the bike home'. I got to the bike, saw that the fork was bent and pretty much gave up on that. Then i heard someone yell at me (i was the only one on the road, it was around 10:30), they had been out for a smoke break at the Hyatt hotel i passed when they heard my bike, then they heard it cut out, and decided to check it out. I started taking off my stuff (helmet, jacket, and backpack).

now, i've never broken anything, so I didn't know when my wrist was crooked (not as crooked as i thought a broken one should be) that it wsa broken, i thought i had maybe sprained it. along with my thumb that was significantly swollen by this time. There, Jon and Matt sat with me and helped me call my parents (luckily i crashed half a block away from a hospital). Turns out, when the bike hit, the wheel jacked to the left jamming the handle bars back into my hands. I shattered my left radius (i think it was in 8 or 9 pieces) and i got a bennit's fracture on my right thumb. they put 3 pins in my thumb, and a plate with some screws in my left wrist. i'm gonna have some pretty gnarly scars.~~

Oh my!

Of the three lenses that I currently own (I'm not really counting the Lensbaby as a "real" lens), I love the 50mm f/1.4 the mostest. It has a razor thin focal point and bokeh like buttah.

I've been playing around with the different user modes on the D200. Usually I shoot in manual, but I thought I'd give the "program" (auto) mode a try. It overexposed most of the shots in this series, but it was a tricky shooting situation, as Liam's face was in the shade and the background was direct sunlight.

Shooting in RAW saved the day. I don't ever see a reason to shoot another JPEG ever again...
