Capital City Bike Trail Overpass Construction - Fish Hatchery and McKee Roads

Bridge Placement - South Bound Lanes
On Wednesday, July 15 from 10 PM to 1 AM the contractor will place the steel truss of the bridge over the south bound lanes of CTH 'D'/ Fish Hatchery Road just north of the intersection of CTH 'PD'/ McKee Road and just south of Cahill Main. The size and complexity of this operation necessitates closure of the south bound lanes for several hours on this evening and perhaps the following early morning. South bound traffic will be reduced to one lane and routed onto one of the north bound lanes. The north bound traffic will also be reduced to one lane in this area. In the event of poor weather conditions or other difficulties the operation will take place the following evening, Thursday, July 16.

The City using Transportation Enhancement funding, DNR funding and County funding is constructing an overpass over Fish Hatchery Road for the Capital City Trail over Fish Hatchery Road north of McKee Road. The overpass will make the bike trail crossing of much safer and easier. The project consists of a pre-fabricated steel truss bicycle and pedestrian bridge including concrete abutments, piers, and retaining walls for the approaches.

The low bidder was Janke General Contractors, Inc. with a bid of $1.07 million. The project is scheduled for a late summer completion.
