Floral Runner (close up of flower)
This close up allows you to see the stitches a bit better.
About two months after I learned to crochet, I decided to try my hand at making a crochet gift for someone. Who better than Mom, right? I mean, most mom's love whatever gift they receive from their child!!! Little did I know that I'd envisioned something that required so much time and effort; however, as you can see, the payoff (though still incomplete) was worth it.
I used an "E" hook and silky crochet thread for the entire piece. The flowers are English-rose style creations, and I designed the leaves' pattern. The large, blue runner--which is the size of a longer, wooden piano bench--is double stranded in two shades of blue; I used a shell pattern (slightly modified) in order to make it appear as if there were ripples on the water.
Right now the runner's pieces remain separate/unstitched, and I still need to do the lacy edging on the overall piece. I think that the finishing steps might be my mom's birthday gift this year.
IMG 8850 - The Gift Of Flowers . . .
Rosey and I have been walking of a morning on Cadbury's Estate where our family home is. There are myriads of flowers on our walk so my camera is always a bonus. It does make for a slow walk sometimes as there are so many varied and magical pics to take. This is no exception seeing these lovely flowers. I love the array of colours here and also the slight hint of dew still left there. What a great place to be although quite a bit cooler than the Philippines or Queensland. Nevertheless, it still has been a wonderful journey for both of us and it is nearly 12 months since I was here last. Not much has changed here which is one of the wonderful attractions of Tasmania!!!
