November Flowers In Season
- When a mare is 'in heat'. In other words, when the mare is ready to breed.

Tiny Flowers
Even the thumbnail is larger than the real flower. I really need to bring one home for the microscope photo. It's easy to overlook this November flower.
When I put this photo up I thought it was of Petty Spurge (Euphorbia peplus). I was wrong. It is a Sun Spurge (Euphorbia helioscopia). This is a misidentification that goes back years so I have a lot of record changing to do and need to spend more time in the field with this genus next season.
Faking the seasons
November is a depressing month, the clocks have gone back and the days are short and sunshine rare in my bit of the world. And yet I still managed to find a little patch of summer in the middle of all the autumnal colours right at the end of my garden. I wish it was summer again.
