McGlaughlin Headstone
Finely executed headstone with elaborate (although restrained) architectural detailing. The verse is indicative of the attitudes and beliefs of the period.
Sandstone headstone in Greek FRevival style. Headstone has gothic style buttresses on each side and a medimented top. The headstone features the use of several elements derived from architectural detailing. The include a pediment with decorative dentils, fluted pillasters and incised shields. In the centre of the pediment is a relief carved hand holding a floral wreath.
The inscription reads:
In Memory Of

who departed thi life
5th APril 1890
aged 40 years
A loving husand true and kind
Has crossed the flowing tide
to meet his loving saviour there
safe on the other side
