A bicycle that is suitable for use on ordinary roads, as opposed to a mountain bike
A road bicycle is similar to a racing bicycle. However, road bikes are built more for endurance and less for fast bursts of speed, which is desired in a racing bicycle. They usually have more gear combinations and fewer hi-tech racing features.
(Road biking) Road cycling is the most widespread form of cycling. It takes place primarily on paved surfaces. It includes recreational, racing, and utility cycling.

Kaminari
By the way, this is an updated shot of Kaminari, my roadie. It's a 77 Zebrakenko Storm that I got at a yardsale for $10. Zebrakenko was a Japanese bike maker from the beginning of the 20th century, but only started importing to the US during the "bike boom" of the 70s. This was one of their entry level bikes, but it's still got some nice components, Suntour, Dia-Compe, Araya, etc.
Kaminari means, "Storm of the Gods." A friend living in Japan helped me name him.
Bike #4 Road Bike on a Performance Frame
Performance Bike sells some very inexpensive frames, so I decided to build up a road bike using mostly parts from an oversized Marin Road bike.
Cheap was the goal, but the dollars are starting to add up. I might not save money compared to the current crop of entry level road bikes.
This is still work in progress. A little more tuning with the handlebars to get a comfortable fit.
