Iris Flower Bulbs
- (Flower bulb) A bulb is a short stem with fleshy leaves or leaf bases . The leaves often function as food storage organs during dormancy .

Dutch Iris Flower
A handful of these beautiful flowers appear behind our greenhouse each year in June. Someone must have planted bulbs there years ago and they have taken really well to the sandy clay dirt that is on the slope leading down to our greenhouse.
This photo was shot about 4 in the afternoon when the sunlight filtered thru our neighbors pine tree splashing unto the Dutch Iris flowers. The background was mostly in shadows.

African Iris
I think this is some sort of African Iris - a Spring bulb flowering in Johannesburg
