A fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, commonly known in the USA as a fixie) is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving.
Although there are different designs, most fixie bicycles are among the simplest two-wheelers on the road and trail. They're usually comprised of a frame, wheels, bars, stem, seat, seatpost, crankset, pedals and chain.

Fixie conversion: Bike started out as a Schwinn Traveler that I bought from a guy off of craigslist. It used to be white and in really poor condition. Everything was taken off the bike except for the seat post, headset, and handlebar and stem. Original paint was stripped down to the metal and repainted in blue. New seat, sugino cranks/chainring, wheels/tires, pedals, and bar wrap.

I changed out the crankset to a 165 Pake fixie crank. It used to be a swaged on chainring 175 craptastic crankset. The chainring kept bending in traffic. Now I am rolling the 53x16 with a 14 on the other side for the flatlands...
I also cleaned it and added the Viva saddlebag loops.
