Ulta is a chain of beauty superstores in the United States carrying cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, and haircare. Each store is outfitted with a full-service salon as well.
Planning
Planning is defined as a process that managers use to identify and select appropriate goals and courses of action for the organization. This is a picture of a billboard in front of what will be an Ulta store later in 2008. Amongst those who may be part of planning for the opening of this store, would be those marketing and managing exactly the strategies that would contribute to the not only the success of this store's opening and existence, but how these contributions align with the business goals of Ulta as a whole. In light of marketing the opening of this specific store, managers would have had to discuss issues of when to open the store (Spring 2008), location of ads around the city, and may have come to the conclusion of putting such a billboard up directly in front of where the store would be, so that potential shoppers would not only see the work being put into reconstructing the building, but would notice that the sign itself is bright in color (it was pale, soft, orange... very springlike) with a woman wearing makeup, all of this as a result of planning and coinciding with Ulta's mission to "stage a memorable experience for every customer that leaves her uplifted." And in this sign's case, in the esthetics of color and design.
the ulta makeover
Today we went shopping and one of the stores we visited was the Ulta makeup store. They have all the shadows, etc out on display and available to sample, so Rylie helped herself. This was taken right after we got home. Wow. Just wow. The only editing I did was the crop and a slight contrast boost so that the colors would remain as true to life as possible. She had a blast and laughed so hard at herself when she finally looked in the mirror. This is mostly Lorac and Too Faced shadows and the cheek color is urban decay.
