1. Open a New File a bit larger than you want your box to be. Creat a new layer and fill it with a color that will contrast with the color you're going to make the box. Drag the Background layer to the trashcan.
2. Edit>Preferences>Grid and set up the grid you want to use. Set the units to inches (if that's the units you normally use). You can set the width to 0.5 or whatever width you need. Click OK.
3. Select the color you want the box to be.
5. Click View>Grid and click View>Snap to>Grid
6. Click on the Paintbrush Tool and try a small size (maybe 10 pixels). You'll probably have to try a couple of sizes to see what works best.
7. Click on the Paintbrush Settings (red arrow) and set the Spacing. What it's set to depends on how big the box is...try 125% first.
8. Create another new layer for the box.
9. With the new, empty layer highlighted in the Layers Palette, click and hold at a corner and paint along the line turning smoothly at each corner. Release the mouse button when you get back to the starting dot. (I stopped at each corner so my corners are a bit messed up.)
10. View>Grid to get rid of the grid. Drag the colored layer to the trashcan and File>Save As the box layer as psd or gif or png to preserve the transparency.
Note: before you use your Paintbrush again. Reset it by clicking on the little arrow on the left side of the Paintbrush Options bar and click Reset This Tool. Otherwise everything will still be spaced at 125%;-)

In this shot, it's nice how Treekins blends into the landscape, but also stands out from it because of her clothes. Her hair is from the same colour palette of the landscape, and so is her skin. However, the pink jacket, the blue jeans? Not so much.

I've always enjoyed pictures and paintings of people with their backs turned, lost and alone in a landscape. Some people try to insert a person into a landscape to humanize it, or to make the picture/art less "empty". However, I've always found the human in question always ends up looking lost and overwhelmed by the size and power of the land. In a way, I enjoy the picture for failing to do what it hopes to achieve by inserting the person.

Perhaps T looks like she fits in here. I think she sort of does. However, that isn't the point.

The point is, she got in the way of my nice lensbaby picture of that track through the grass, so now I get to gabble at you. HA! MADE YOU READ THIS WHOLE THING! HAHAHAHA fooled you!!
