1353 Our Wedding Day
Fifty-six years ago today (August 16, 1953) Carolyn and I began our life together.
We swore "To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part."
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Matt. 19:6
At this time I was attending Anderson University, in our home town, Anderson, SC
I was working in Orr Cotton Mill, 2nt shift, 4pm - 11pm.We hardly saw each other any more. When I came home from school, Carolyn was at work (until 5pm). The load was too heavy and I dropped out of school.
Since my dad had been a Chief Petty Officer, and Carolyn's dad had been a Chief Petty Officer, I thought I might give it a go. Dad thought it was a good idea. He knew I wasn't happy with things as they were.
So, on March 16, 1954, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was sworn in. A few days later I received my orders and a train ticket from Columbia, SC, to the U.S. Naval Training Center, San Diego, California.
We placed ourselves in the hands of the Lord and the U.S. Navy, and never looked back.

Viet-Nam and the Pacific Fleet Combat Camera Group became my proving grounds, the opportunity to put to good use everything I had learned for my first 12 years in photography.
These were hard times for Carolyn, and they tested our marriage. I love her for standing by me, no matter what, for all these years.

By the way, I made Chief while serving in Viet-Nam.

Strobist Wedding Day
Since I started using lights every wedding has been a new adventure with no limits to the new light set ups and ideas.
Two speedlight set up
One rear light at 1/16 with a blue gel over it, and one speedlight to the brides upper left with an umbrella at 1/4.
