The ASUS F6VE-B1 is a 13.3 'laptop desktop replacement. Not content with just a small form factor notebook, ASUS crammed in an Intel Core 2 Duo T9550, 4GB of RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon 4570 card Graphic 13.3 'frame. With a starting price of $ 1 299 the F6VE-B1 is a premium portable of similar size, but performance can justify the expense.
The design F6VE dated compared to new laptops we've seen out of the line Asus. A 1X793 that costs about $ 1,300 these days are expected to book more attention to detail and innovative design. The F6VE has a glossy cover painted with a Spirograph type of model is rarely seen, unless you sit. The interior has a feeling of plastic wrist rest well structured, the key matte finish with a touch of chrome or polished finish and glossy black plastic. I think the Eee PC 1000HE has a design much more beautiful and more in line with the development of high quality you expect to find these days.
The build quality is necessary for a machine of this caliber, with a plastic liner and squeaky soft plastic covers abound. The optical drive is clicking and when running the laptop on the side of the palm rest with his hand on the device. The plastics used in the chassis feel good, like something you can find on a laptop instead of a replacement fiscal performance desktop.
Access can be easily updated through a single panel that covers the hard drive, RAM, wireless card, and processor. No will void the warranty if removed' stickers found on the main deck, but it was on the CPU heat sink to prevent a user to upgrade the processor. Given the processor included in this configuration, I doubt anyone would have to be updated.
Battery life was disappointing, given the small size of the laptop and the 1G222 battery sticks on the back. With the screen brightness reduced to 70%, wireless active, and Vista in the balanced profile of ASUS F6VE stayed 2 hours and 56 minutes. Some of them are expected with the faster processor and video card, but had hoped for something more, perhaps closer to 4 hours.
The thermal efficiency of F6VE was pretty good considering what was packed inside. Under load the fan bit 'of the air passes through the system to keep the Intel T9550 and ATI 4570 in the reasonable values of temperature, before taking a good amount of noise. This laptop easily exceeds the fan noise W90 massive because it has only one fan runs very fast, instead of three separate fans run slower in the interior of W90. The system temperature was modest, is heated with heavy loads, but not too hot.
Conclusion
F6VE ASUS notebooks have been much better if the same materials that were in an attractive design. The design is dated, the build quality is not up, and generally do not feel like what is expected to spend $ 1299 on a 13.3 '1691P these days. The performance of the material is excellent no doubt, but it seems very out of place compared to current offerings such as the ASUS N81, W90, or even the 1000HE. If you really need a gaming compact laptop on only one inch to the N81Vp. F6VE in fighting almost all categories, will double the 3D performance, and looks like a heck of a lot more enjoyable.
