Pop Can Solar Heater
- a heater that makes direct use of solar energy
- Solar water heating (SWH) systems are a mature renewable energy technology which have been accepted in most countries for many years. SWH has been widely used in Israel, Australia, Japan, Austria and China.
- A beverage can is a tin can designed to hold a single serving of a beverage. Beverage cans are made of tin-plated steel or aluminium.
The Pop Can Catastrophe
A stop-motion clip from my early college days of 1999, shot with a web camera that could also do single 640x480 frames. This was nearly 400 cans (if memory serves correct), until the whole thing started coming crashing down - at which point the webcam guy started shooting frames as fast as his 550 MHz computer would allow. There was a rather chaotic sound of aluminum-on-aluminum as the tower collapsed, and it seemed to take forever before the pile finally settled on the floor.
We drank a lot. Of pop. "President's Choice" - Amusing as we're Canadian, but that was the brand.
Mountain Dew from Mt. Mitchell
I found this guy whilst hiking the Deep Gap Trail on Mt. Mitchell. It's highly improbable that I was the first to find it, and it was right out in the open. So maybe I just ruined someone's tradition of always pointing out "that pop can."
