Odot Studded Tires
A tire (in American English) or tyre (in British English) is a ring-shaped covering that fits around a wheel rim to protect it and enable better vehicle performance by providing a flexible cushion that absorbs shock while keeping the wheel in close contact with the ground.

DIY studded tires
Screw wood screw into inside of tire out through the hole you poked. I chose to use 3/8" metal screws because they had no taper into the threads so it would sit flush against the inside of the tire.
Transformed some old Panaracer fires into some studded tires. This is in prepration for a night criterium out on the ice in Newport, Vermont for the Ultimate Winter XC Challenge.
Traction Tires2
Oregon state law allows motorists to use studded tires from Nov. 1 through March 31. Because studded tires damage Oregon highways, ODOT encourages drivers to consider using chains or non-studded traction tires.
