It Will Never Get Old
DM&E train #273 leaves Davis Junction, IL with four screaming SD40-2s as they head toward Savanna. The crew has just finished setting out some north cars along with a GP40-2 for the Rockford Job and now they're back underway under a hazy sky. Just four SD40-2s on a manifest freight--no double stacks or autoracks, just a freight train: hoppers, gondolas, boxcars and a few flat cars. Bolted rail from the 1950s and a few telegraph poles too. Good luck finding a scene like this too many other places. I'll soak in this scene every chance I get--I know how quickly some things change and I will never grow tired of listening to a quartet of SD40-2s getting up to track speed.
