I was documenting my site for my project today in Freedom Park. Where I've chosen my site is at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Freedom Parkway, where there is this cool piece of artwork. I'd never been really up close to it before, but found that it is made of recycled tire rubber. Sort of poetically, it fits into themes of my thesis, which have to do with the integration of automotive infrastructure with the landscape and ecology. I found it interesting that there were parts of this piece that were plants that were constructed out of rubber tires. Somehow that just made me happy that this was located upon my chosen site. Maybe its just sleep deprivation too. :)
