scruffy dog headquarters in transition
it's been a hell of a week ... with more to come. new computer system ... rebuilding everything ... and i mean everything.
this photo is deceiving ... the office is a disaster. i'm glad i dragged the extra table over from j's office after building her a new desk.
i now have FOUR keyboard/mouse combos in my office ... my coveted former Logitech combo that has to be put to rest now that i'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit ... the latest, greatest Logitech MX 5500 Revolution that i've struggled w/ for the past couple of days and have packed back up for return ... its funky scroll wheel simply isn't gellin' with the 64-bit version and i'm tired of fucking with it ... then there's the Logitech 3200 combo which i'm currently on, and a Microsoft desktop combo that i'm hoping might be happier with the 64-bit technology. we'll see.
then there's a new (cheap) scanner because, hey, after 7 years, the old one simply doesn't know which end is up any more. and the new kick-serious-ass monitor is on its way ... apparently back-ordered across north america.
hell, even the dog is an old model ... threw out a hip or her back on the weekend ... not sure which. she's gimping around and i'm throwing all kinds of homeo's at her, hoping it's just soft-tissue.
hey, maybe i'll actually get a chance to take some photos some day ... besides this miserable attempt at an update.
oh yeah, and i also bought myself an Eye-One color calibration tool and software ... i have NO idea how to use it ... need to take the plunge.
for those of you wondering if i've recently won the lottery or discovered a dead relative ... neither. i actually signed a sweet deal with an ad agency for the licensing of some images. i can't really talk about it much until the "campaign" starts ... but suffice it to say it's paid off our vet debts (although we're still doing the barter thing on a few thousand dollars worth from mirren) and i'm able to upgrade my equipment which is all 4-10 years old. it's been a god-send ...
Lineoleum Means Lighter living!
A local used bookstore had a stack of old Canadian Homes & Gardens from the late 50's - these are scans of some of my favourite bits. This issue is March 1958.
There are a couple full-page ads for Dominion Linoleum, advocating replacing your tired old living room or bedroom carpet with this new miracle material, in a hundred or more fashionable shades.
