Atiu, Cook Islands
Atiu is the third largest of the Cook Islands, with a proper economy based on agriculture - taro as well as coffee are grown here. It has an airstrip and a harbour. The day of our visit on the Clipper Odyssey coincided with the monthly supply ship from Rarotonga. To get the supplies the Atiuans used a Hitachi digger to winch and drag their large barge down the slipway and into the water . It was an impressive operation to watch.

Tricky lighting mixed flourescent and tungsten required some fiddling to get close to real colours. Also needed a shutter speed to get sharp faces but moving feathers.
