Dodo (always) in Action!
My five years old nephew Dodo (Daniel) in action. Dodo is always in action. I won’t try to describe him here, because I really don’t know where to start! His energy is limitless, his questions are endless, his curiosity can drive any adult insane, he is also extremely strong willed, and controlling, and would never take a “no” for an answer unless you explain to him why (in details!). I’ve seen him drive more than one adult (apart from his parents) to the point of hysteria! And yes, that includes me!
He started eating by himself by the age of 10 months—he refused someone else would feed him or teach him how to use the spoon if he was going to feed himself, and so he taught himself how to use the spoon! He wanted to get married by the age of four, and just recently he advised me to finish university first, get a bigger place then get married because our apartment is too small for my kids to play in! (At least he is much wiser than most “adults” I know!) If he keeps going like this I think he will move out by the age of eight! And he told my sister that he was praying to Jesus to give him a wife!
There is no such a thing as speaking in codes or signs around him, because he can decipher anything and understands it! My sister and her husband has decided before they had kids that there would be no video games for their children. I agree with their upbringing of their kids because this has kept Dodo so alert of his surroundings and always learning. (I have a couple of racing video games demos on my PC just for him and his sister to play with me when they come over; which is only about 15 minutes of video games every two weeks.) They even limit their TV watching time, and what they watch.
At the age of 3 after an afternoon car ride with Dodo that made me feel as if I was on a TV show where I had to answer as many questions as possible we came to a red traffic light, and so he asked me, “Fadi, why did we stop?” I told him, “Because the traffic light is red.” He asked, “What is that suppose to mean?” I told him, “That means we have to stop so the other cars can go by.” He asked, “Why red?” I told him, “Because red means danger, and we can see red easier than other colours.” He asked, “Why?” I told him, “Because of its wave length.” He asked, “What is a wavelength?” That’s when I thought, “Somebody buy him a Nintendo, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!”
I love Dodo a lot, but a couple of hours a week of him is more than enough for me!
PS: he refuses to call me ‘uncle’—so he has always called me just ‘Fadi’!

Screen capture from my pc - this is NOT my image - hopefully I'm not getting anyone's panties wadded up in a knot for posting it out here. It's cool and I'm just sharing it (plus it's freely available anyway as a skin so . . . {shrug shoulders} ) Anyway...

:) They have these themes that you can skin your browser with. I hadn't changed mine in -- I don't know how long - 6+ months. For some reason (prolly because just got done watching college bowl game on tv) when I sat down at this PC I suddenly thought "Hmmm - let me do a search and see if there is a Steelers theme . . . "
