This is an old McCoy pottery cookie jar that I've "inherited" from my parents' house. This couple frightened me as a kid. I can see it would be an effective cookie jar as no little kid would dare to sneak a cookie!
As a young girl this sat on top of the refrigerator and mom & dad use to store their Raleigh cigarette coupons inside. (Cigarette coupons for those too young to know about such things are similar to S&H Green Stamps. You collect them with purchases and save them up, then turn them in for "stuff". )
When the folks were clearing out some old junk, I just HAD to have this. Now I love it - all cracked and mended as it is. It's so old that the paint is almost totally off their hats. (Yes, owls wore hats back in the 50's)

You look fabulous! We have several of these girls with heart lips and "Scrubbing Bubbles" lashes, probably based on the Holt Howard Christmas head vase, several made by Tilso (including this one), a few figurines by Sonsco, and a head vase series with flowers by Lipper Mann.
