Corelle is a brand of glassware and dishware. It is made of Vitrelle, a laminated tempered glass product with three layers of two types of glass. The thermally bonded layers give Corelle its strength, allowing it to be much thinner than other dinnerware.
Corelle Livingware 1972 Catalogue - Front Cover.
This catalogue states that "Corelle Livingware is made from a completely new, strong heat resistant glass material by Corning Glass Works". It also describes Corelle as a "totally new glass". However it also states that it was bought by millions of women last year. This leads me to believe that Corelle was launched in 1971. The patterns available were Spring Blossom Green, Snowflake Blue, Butterfly Gold and Winter Frost White
