SOS, mamas!
a year of mornings 252/365
This is a bowl of hot 7-grain cereal topped with yogurt, maple syrup, and apples baked under the broiler with baking spices and turbinado sugar. It's what I ate for breakfast this morning, and it was delicious.
But it is SO BEYOND WHAT I CAN MANAGE MOST MORNINGS THESE DAYS.
So help me out, mamas and other savvy sorts! What's a new mama to do, in this funny in-between time, when the grandparents have all gone home, but the baby is still tiny and the mama still brand new? On a good day I work my way through a box of Grape Nuts, a bin of oatmeal cranberry cookies from Trader Joe's, and the last of the Thanksgiving pie. On a bad day I don't eat till dinnertime, when my wonder of a husband comes in from the fields, kisses me and the baby, and heads to the stove.
All the days in these first weeks with my new baby seem magical. But a girl has got to eat.
I know my way around a kitchen, and of course as farmers we have a very well-stocked larder. But this new little person needs me almost every minute, and doesn't nap regularly enough yet that I have a schedule to my days, and I'm still figuring it all out. Happily, but also a bit haphazardly.
Suggestions? I want food that is SUPER fast to throw together, healthy, delicious, and that I can make with one hand.

Healthy Cookies VS Sinful Cookies!!!! There is nothing sexy about oatmeal, in my opinion, whatever the health benefits. In my mind, I see my dear belated grandma grinning her toothless smile at me while looking up from her oatmeal....this is what I see everyday while growing up, so do you blame me?! Hahaha......In its defense, these oatmeal cookies are filled with goodness. A less sinful way to snack! Recipe courtesy of Happy Home Baking
