It's been an amazing, beautiful and uplifting day. I leave for Washington DC tomorrow for a political journalism conference and I can't imagine any other place I'd want to be.
It's 2:00 a.m. and we've just finished sending the Lumberjack to print. It's been a good night but a long one. It's been over 12 hours since I first entered the newsroom and I take a red-eye flight to DC tomorrow.
Photo credit goes to the amazing Bella Rua Photography here on Flickr. I found her photo under a Creative Commons search on barackobamadotcom. Bella, if you'd like me to send you a hard copy of the Lumberjack, send me a message. :)
Some Yellow-Green Vireos are hard to tell apart from the similar Red-Eyed Vireos and thus these two species used to be grouped together as one (Red-Eyed).....
I'd captured this specimen in bleeding plumage back in May in the Yucatan Peninsular and the yellowish flanks unmistakenly idenified this as a Yellow-Green.
This vireo is currently classified Code 3 (Rare) N.American Species by the American Birding Association.
Search on the web only shows a dozen or so good perch shots of this species on both Google and Flickr , and very likely this could be the first flight shot of this species around.
