It was early May in the early evening about 6:00 p.m. with pleasant temperature and light 'baby breath' breezes, when just outside my door I noticed a white, flimsy, slightly fluffy, tiny thing floating in the air. It gradually descended an I thought it must be some kind of seed, with a little fluff attached to keep it floating. It was asymmetrical and fluttered in the wind.
Just when I expected that it would come to rest it would catch a little updraft and rise a bit. Finally it dawned on me--it was an insect. I tried to get photos but it was too small and drifting around, slowly, but there was no way to focus. Finally I set my camera manually to 1 foot and ISO 400 and snapped numerous photos. This is the only one that was close to being in focus, and in fact it shows it better than I could see with my naked eye.
I will post a composite image showing details of one of these insects I caught (but not without killing it) the next day.
