We were just about to leave Viera. I was turned 180 degrees trying to shoot an immature Red Shoulder in a waving sapling when in swept one of these Caracara I presume with the whole snake. By the time I was focused and getting decent shots, he had bitten the snake in two and kept looking toward the sky. In flew his buddy. The first gave up half his dinner and they proceeded to play with their food for about 10 minutes. The second Caracara finally took his 'half' and left. The other messed around with his half and left in another 5 minutes or so. I thought it was interesting that this matter-of-fact sharing took place with such an air of unrushed complacency. It was fun to watch.
One bird is banded on both legs the other is not banded. I can see Blue (R2) over metal on the left leg and white over green on the right but can't make out any other numbers from the ~50 shots I took.

I was amazed at all the contrails we saw over Yosemite, crisscrossing the sky constantly in every direction. I know it's on the flightpath between Los Angeles and Seattle, but it must be on the flight path for every other flight in the world!

A bunch of Flickr buddies went to Yosemite this weekend and it was simply incredible. It must have been group karma. Weather perfect. Camaraderie perfect. EVERYTHING perfect :-)
