I almost walked headfirst into this spiffing Golden Orb spider one night when my handy 'Spider Sense' pulled me up just short of its web.
Naturally, I nipped back into the house, grabbed the camera, and my little Iron Man figure and started snapping away.
To get them both in focus I had to attach the I.M figure to the end of a piece of wooden dowel.
The Iron Man figure, by the way, I dug out of a toy rubber superball and repainted; you can easily work out the size of the spider by comparing the two.
Yes, we both got pretty close but web spiders are not supposed to leave their snares and anyway, if Tony could handle it I figured I could!
No spiders were harmed in the production of this picture.

When it comes down to it, this is what cosplay is for. Playing.
Would you believe the sword was confiscated at the door of the event? Apparently the police visited early and insisted on a strict "no weapons" policy. I can understand why something like a genuine katana sword might be an issue, especially if people start playing around like this, but cartoon styrofoam swords? I believe toy guns were also verboten. Sigh.
I'm afraid that's probably all the photos I'll post from SMASH, I just can't seem to find anything to beat the photo of the demon girls. To be honest, most of my shots were duds. This one scrapes through on charm alone.
