In Berwick upon Tweed there is a trail called The Lowry Trail - L.S. Lowry (1887-1976), one of Britain’s best-loved painters, really loved Berwick upon Tweed. He visited the town many times from the mid-1930’s until the summer before he died in 1976. He would stay in the Castle Hotel near the railway station but he thought about buying a house on the Elizabethan walls. The Berwick Lowry Trail identifies the sites of many of his finest paintings and drawings of the town and allows you to follow in his footsteps. At each location on the trail there is an information board and a print associated with it. There are 18 in all and following it you get a great tour of the town. This is no 13 Berwick Harbour.
