Family Reunion

The formidable Bette Davis stars as the matriarch of the Winfield family, whose ties have become strained over the years as the result of a family falling-out. When she discovers her nephew is trying to sell his share of the family land, Aunt Elizabeth decides it's time to right the situation and reunite the disparate family members around the same goal: preserving the family homestead, and reconnecting the generations despite their differences. Scovel Family Reunion

Scovel Family Reunion

This was a Scovel Family Reunion. I'm guessing I was 8, as I remember a family reunion at the time. (So, 1987.)

Not pictured are Jessica Scovel (Jim and Dixie's daughter); Derek, Christine, or Janene (Tom's children and wife). My dad is also not in this picture - I'm guessing he was the one taking it!

My brother took this as he was the only one there with a tripod.

A Family Reunion (The First Charon Family Adventure)

Decades earlier Michael Charon was the head of a division of the CIA that fulfilled so many “wet” hit contracts it was code named “Water Works.” Blindsided by a media leak after a covert mission gone bad, Charon found himself in the political crosshairs. The ensuing scandal created a firestorm in Washington which required a high profile scapegoat. To protect his team, Charon cut a deal. Instead of embarrassing The Company by pointing fingers or naming names, he fell on his own sword.

After a seven-year self-imposed exile, when he traveled throughout the Far East, Charon resurfaced in Washington. With unexplained but seemingly unlimited funding, he set up an ultra-high-end boutique security firm. With a knack for getting results in impossible situations and a history of keeping his mouth shut, the services of Sariel International were soon much in demand by the rich and the powerful of the world.

Charon’s life is turned upside down when a beautiful but mysterious young woman appears unannounced at his office. He soon learns that members of his old Water Works team have come out of retirement and for unknown reasons are killing each other.

When he follows the trail, he discovers the identity of the person who had leaked the story years earlier and the startling reason why.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rod Pennington has published six previous novels and sold or had optioned numerous screenplays and treatments. His most recent novel, “The Fourth Awakening” has spent extended periods at #1 in multiple Kindle categories.

Pennington began his novel writing career in the “Men’s Action” genre in the 1980s. In addition to his own bestselling “Devon’s Way” series he produced “work-for-hire” novels for the Worldwide Library/Gold Eagle imprint of Harlequin Books based on the characters created by the late Don Pendleton in his Mack Bolan “Executioner” series.

When, along with the Berlin Wall, the men’s action genre collapsed, Pennington was recruited by the VP of Creative Affairs of a major motion picture studio and worked directly with him for many years.

Pennington considers “A Family Reunion” to be a return to his first love, action novels. This book is the first of a dark humor series which is meant to be a fun, fast read. It has Pennington’s signature snappy dialogue and breakneck speed plotting. The story has lots of cliffhangers and twists and turns, a touch of sex, and a healthy dose of humor.

The next book in the series “Family Business” will be released in December2011. If the series develops a following, Pennington says he will add two more titles per year, “until people get tired of reading them or I get tired of writing them.”
