A musical instrument is constructed or used for the purpose of making the sounds of music. In principle, anything that produces sound can serve as a musical instrument. The history of musical instruments dates back to the beginnings of human culture.

Piglet Band
They're ready to take requests:-)
From left to right the members of the band are: Christopher (guitar), Richard (french horn), James (triangle), Michael (bass drum), Andrew (cymbals), Mathew (horn), Daniel (fiddle) David (flute) and John (the conductor). I did not make up these names---they were named by the manufacturer.
It was far more difficult to make this shot an interesting one with my wide angle lens and I'm missing the rich color I had on the "James" shot. I thought I might re-take tonight under the original conditions but alas, Mathew lost his horn when I turned him over to see his name (and I have no crazy glue to fix it back) so I'd be minus a player and that wouldn't do. Ah well we live and learn.
thai.sung
a gift from a thai pastor in the golden triangle. it's an unstrung 'sung' and is apparently unique to northern thailand. made from teak, it normally features two courses of 2 unitone strings, with each course tuned a full tone apart. (the higher strings are on the bottom as on a guitar - at least the only one i've played was tuned to e and d.) makes for a kind of minor and mournful sound. i hope this is the year i actually get this old baby up and running. i saw one with a pickup installed, and they can be plucked or bowed. maybe the next big thing eh? `~)
