A mandolin (mandolino) is a musical instrument in the lute family (plucked, or strummed). It descends from the mandore, a soprano member of the lute family.
A musical instrument resembling a lute, having paired metal strings plucked with a plectrum. It is played with a characteristic tremolo on long sustained notes
A mandoline (, ) is a cooking utensil used for slicing and for cutting juliennes; with proper attachments, it can make crinkle-cuts. It consists of two parallel working surfaces, one of which can be adjusted in height.

From these humble beginnings
The band was born for the 2 CD release concerts for Something Worth Standing For, including this show at the Kennedy Center with Chance McCoy on fiddle, banjo and mandolin, and Jesse Shultzaberger on drums.

Day 120: Bluegrass on the Bench
I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock n roll. OK so I'm mostly rock n roll, but I love bluegrass.
This is my electric mandolin. I took lessons for a while, but gave them up when my first daughter was born. I still fiddle around with it a bit. (pun intended)
