EXHAUST AIR HEAT PUMP - HEAT PUMP

Exhaust Air Heat Pump - Windshield Washer Pump Pressure

Exhaust Air Heat Pump

    exhaust air
  • Air removed from a space and not reused.

  • Air rejected from a space to the outside using fans, blowers, or gravity relief ducts.

  • The air removed from the cooling tower during the cooling process.  Exhaust air also contains water vapor that has evaporated during the cooling process.

    heat pump
  • A device that transfers heat from a colder area to a hotter area by using mechanical energy, as in a refrigerator

  • A device which uses compression and decompression of gas to heat and/or cool a house.

  • apparatus that extracts heat from a liquid that is at a higher temperature than its surroundings; can be used to transfer heat from a reservoir outside in order to heat a building

  • A heat pump is a machine or device that moves heat from one location (the 'source') at a lower temperature to another location (the 'sink' or 'heat sink') at a higher temperature using mechanical work or a high-temperature heat source.

Energy and CO2 Demand:
Demand for energy and production of CO2 in the construction process was minimised by:
•Minimising of construction waste (which contributes 10% of CO2 production to the average construction project);
•Re use of crushed material from demolition below the building and in relandscaped external areas
•Use of recycled and low energy products in construction;
•Use of locally sourced materials wherever possible;
•Use of off-site manufactured timber frames which reduces construction time and concomitant and direct energy and CO2 production;
•Existing trees were preserved or replanted.
The completed building minimises energy demand and CO2 production by:
•Highly insulated building fabric;
•An air tightness of less than 5m3 per hour per m2 at 50Pa;
•Maximum use of daylight and 100% low energy light fittings;
•Heating and heat loss reduction by Exhaust Air Heat Pumps;
•Choice of low maintenance, sustainable materials and finishes.

USACE delivers 106 environmentally sustainable townhouses to Ansbach military community

The Urlas family housing area is a unique new community comprised of 106 units, 22 of which are low-energy Passivhauser or “Passive Houses.” The PasivHaus units consume only one quarter of the energy demanded by traditional homes. Additionally, passive houses capture and recycle 92 percent of the waste heat from lighting fixtures, major appliances, heat pumps, exhaust air and even people or animals to allow the houses to heat themselves. The additional 84 units adhere to strict German EnEV energy standards making the entire Urlas housing community environmentally sustainable. Construction of the Urlas housing community is being managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Brian Temple)
