A bilge pump is a water pump used to remove bilge water. Since fuel can be present in the bilge, electric bilge pumps are designed to not cause sparks. Electric bilge pumps are often fitted with float switches which turn on the pump when the bilge fills to a set level.

Another whale watching trip with the East Bay Regional Parks District today - Absolutely fantastic trip out - we saw signs of at least 20 whales in the time we were out - and we were too busy watching to get too many shots.... but here is a small selection for your enjoyment... :)

These two whales (among several others) were hanging around very close to shore during the herring run - I got many shots of the whales on my trip, but I especially Love this shot showing their "blow" it's quite something to see and hear.. This was an adult and her calf - view all sizes for better look
