Oil Sump pick up components - pick up was missing the oil screen gasket so unfiltered oil was pulled through oil pump. Since oil cannister filter was also missing, the engine was continuosly circulating un-filtered oil.

looks like I'll need a new timing chain guide...found bits and pieces of it in the oil pump screen
