alternative christmas tree
The story behind this photo: it was the creation of my local church youth group, Praise God Barebones. We wanted to do something in the church for Christmas, to decorate it and suchlike, but, as we are a talented, unusual youth group, we wanted to do something different.
After much thought, we came up with an alternative Christmas tree; a tree that highlights the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus, God's present to the world was born at Christmas (Christ Mass) - as well as highlighting the poverty that many people find them selves in when celebrating Christmas - to them the best gift they'll get this Christmas is life. (From Bandaid).
To represent these issues, we covered boxes in brown paper and selotape, and decorated them with milk bottle tops, silver foil decorations and tissue paper. We placed pictures from the Indian Trip, showing children living in poverty around the base, which were kindly donated from a member of our congregation. On top of the alternative Christmas tree, we placed a cross, made of 6 small white boxes, instead of the traditional star or fairy, to symbolise Jesus.
Look what the Fairies did to my little tree last night while I was asleep ............. !!! ;o)))
....... or was it Santa's Elves?
Just to show you what else you can do with your snowflake tree.
I think this would look nicer with all silver balls but I ..... sorry, the Fairies ...... only had a small amount of multi coloured ones!
WARNING! This is only for people with a ridiculous amount of spare time on their hands and nothing better to do with their lives ....... those little balls are SO tricky to stick in place ...... I think they're possessed !!!!
