A refreshing twist, 1988 is not just an anti-Generation X novel but an anti-novel, where all our expectations are funneled into the desert, where they dry up and evaporate.

On this subject I found on 29th of October, 2011 in the Internet the following article in 'The New York Times' of March 15, 1988:
"Rebels derailed and ransacked a passenger train, killing at least five people, a Government newspaper reported today. The Islamic newspaper Focus, however, reported that 30 people died in the Uganda People's Army attack Saturday near Nagongera, about 140 miles east of Kampala, the capital. Focus said the dead included eight Government soldiers. The Uganda People's Army says it is loyal to Peter Otai, Defense Minister under former President Milton Obote."
