Standard Hotel La Downtown
- The Standard Hotel brand is a part of Andre Balazs Properties. It is a group of four boutique hotels in Los Angeles (Hollywood and Downtown LA), Miami and New York.

The Standard Hotel Downtown LA
We've stayed here at least a dozen times over the years. Just passing through and promised a friend I'd take some photos the next time I was there.
Built in 1955, the structure was designed by Claude Beelman and William Simpson, as an office building and headquarters for Superior Oil Company. In 2002 it was sold and converted into a Standard Hotel. In 2003, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places based on its architecture.

The restaurant. The food's not bad, by the way. I always thought this place reminded me of a scene out of Playtime by Jacques Tati.
