Prom today! The theme was The Roaring 20’s. My day began at 10:00 a.m. when I had to be at the Hair Station to get my hair done. I spent two hours there (45 minutes watching the woman make finger waves and style it, 75 minutes sitting under one of those dome hair drier things) and walked out with a super awesome 1920’s style up-do. I then went to the bank, took out $40, and drove to Walmart. I bought bright red lipstick and nail polish, gold dangly earrings and bangles, mascara, fake eyelashes, and blush.
When I came home I tried on my dress (When my mom was in college she was friends with a costume designer who designed a flapper dress for her. I have worn it a few times before for halloween and such, but for Prom we got it tailored to actually fit me. It is black with gold sequins.), shoes, earrings, bangles, and lipstick. I was worried that the red would be too bold for me. However, I think it was absolutely perfect. It all made me very excited.
I changed back into my jeans and my brother’s button-up shirt and began to paint my nails.
After that I’m not really sure exactly what I did in what order. I was mainly just trying to fill time until I could go eat at Meghan’s house. I was going pretty crazy trying to keep myself busy. Hailey finally picked me up just after 5:00 p.m. and we went over there. We were the last ones there (except for Tessa who forgot her dress half way to Fremont) so they were all waiting for us to start eating. Once we got there we carried all of our things in and sat down for dinner.
-Alfredo.
-Breadsticks.
-Chocolate covered strawberries.
-Yum.
After dinner, I painted Hailey’s nails and then proceeded to prepare for Prom. I put on my dress and did my make up and I looked fantastic. Not even going to deny it. Whitney told me that I was born in the wrong era. I was happy. =]
We went outside and started to take pictures but my camera ran out of battery before we could really get into it. However, we figured that we should probably just leave anyhow.
We piled into cars and headed to the Fruitport Golf Club. We jammed out to music most of the way there. Oh man. I was so excited.
When we got there we had to take a breathalyzer and they gave us a wristband. Then they gave all of the girls pearl necklaces and rings and the guys all got fedoras. We all went over to Meghan’s Mom’s table (she was a photographer) and put our stuff under it and she tested the lighting and shadows against me. When she was finished I ran over and joined my friends on the dance floor.
And so it began. Oh my word, you guys. I cannot explain how much fun I had. About an hour in, my friends and I decided that it would be a good idea to get our group pictures done before we got too gross so we freshened up and waited in line. The pictures were fun and Tammy told me she wanted to take me pictures of me at the end just before she tore everything down.
We went back to the floor danced for a while longer and took a few mini breaks for snacks and drinks. The night was so much fun and everything was going so well.
Just before 11:30 p.m. I freshened up again and ran over so Tammy could get a few good pictures of me. I’m really excited about them. (View above.)
It ended when the DJ announced that the next song was for the seniors to jam out one last time. They played The Show Goes On (the seniors’ song this year) which was followed by Don’t Stop Believing (the school favorite song) and, like that, it was over.
We piled back into cars and drove home with the windows down.
