1737 Antique 22k gold Necklace with Rhomboid Filigree Elements
Recorded in the will of my great grandmother as acquired by her father in Constantinople in 1737, this necklace splits into two pieces that can be worn as bracelets. This necklace also had a pendant filigree cross with the enamel miniature of Christ on it that has since been lost.
The necklace is made of 18, 22k gold filigree, rhomboid elements; each element has two identical convex sides that are soldered at four points. The rhomboids are joined together by oval gold links.
Medieval Black Onyx and Cross Necklace
Small smooth pebbles of black onyx have been individually wire wrapped by hand. An antiqued engraved cross pendant in brass serves as the focal point. Pendant measures 21mm in diameter. Necklace measures 16".
