In my early teens I used to enjoying browsing through the two or three copies of Photography Year Book held in our local branch library. 1963 was one of them, I think. Quite apart from other considerations, they always contained a few naked lady pics, one of the few sources of such material available to those too timid to brazen it out and buy a copy of Health & Efficiency from a newsagent. Leafing through photographic books ...nothing too "coffee table" mind... remains an occasional pleasure, most often partaken in the mornings over my toast and salty porridge.
The trouble with photo books is that they are ruinously expensive, but thinking of the Photography Year Book the other day I wondered whether secondhand copies might be available from online sellers. Bingo! Pages and pages of them at Abe Books, many (for some reason) at 64p. Well all right, the first one I ordered might never have been delivered, but here is the second ...so far the earliest I've come across. Jolly interesting too, with a section at the back giving details of the photos, including cameras, lenses, developers and papers used. And plenty of adverts for contemporary cameras and equipment. I've got two more on order.
So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.

365. Day 48.
I would really love to learn more about my camera, and lighting. I guess that is what study is for, and what I will be doing when I get back to Australia, but still, my patience is an issue, and I don't learn well, I learn by doing, I don't learn by reading, and find it annoying when someone tries to tell/teach me what to do. I would also love a new camera, mine is secondhand & a little old (Canon EOS 350D) and sometimes I just wish I had the money to splurge on a nice/new camera.
It also annoys me (mainly due to jealousy >.< ) when people have the absolute best possible DSLR & lenses... and they let it go to waste by not embracing photography... Why own such fantastic equipment if you only plan to take snapshots?
