The little kids can play too -- on the sidelines at Broad Acres Elementary School
We started talking with the PTA President at Broad Acres (an elementary school with an immigrant population of 95%+) right at the end of the previous school year about starting a soccer program in the Fall 2002 season. There were hundreds of details to work out (registration of players, recruitment of coaches, getting uniforms and equipment together, etc.) MSI decided if we were going to do it, there weren't going to be any short cuts -- they'd get new MSI uniforms and equipment, lined fields, goals, etc. It took weeks, but we were ready to go by early October. We met with the parents and players on October 3rd to explain the program and distribute uniforms, and we lined the fields on October 5th.
Then .... the DC Sniper and the most frustrating two weeks of our lives as we had to shut the program (and all the rest of MSI's 1000+ games a week) down. But we were finally clear to go on October 26th, and the kids had a great time.

Keepaway, aka Kill the Photographer Lady.
These guys were super boisterous, really friendly, and death to clean camera equipment, with the grubbiest, most curious fingers and much trashing of sand.
