Victorian Lace Today
Within this compendium, the very first knitting books have been translated from sketchy, often-inaccurate instructions into richly-colored, exciting patterns for modern-day accessories. This blend of history, mystery, and hands-on technique debunks myths about Victorian life as it inspires beginners and ambitious knitters alike. Included are instructions for Victorian lace as the Victorians never saw it—in glorious detail, up-close and on location in and around Cambridge, England. The lace patterns progress from the first, most basic, edgings to the sophistication of "real" lace. Forty patterns are included—scarves and shawls, capes, and fichus—with comprehensive information on the tools and techniques of lace knitting for beginners and enough challenges to keep experienced or ambitious knitters engaged. Delicate and decorative, historical lace patterns are within the reach of today's knitters in this book of adventurous ideas with a vintage touch.

Victorian Bustle Dress - June 2008
Victorian Bustle Dress for my Graduation Project.
I found this nifty website that you can upload photos to and the program on this website edits the photo to look ancient just as this one does.
Funny story about this photo, at my presentation I had a small photo album with pictures of the process I had to go through to make this dress (drafting, cutting, sewing, etc...) as well as reproductions of actual photos from this time period. In this photo album I included this photo, separated from all the reproductions.
After a large barrage of questions
about learning to sew, and this and that, one of the judges, a small man from our community, asked "Don't you think it's amazing how English victorian fashion made it's way all the way over to Asia?"
I was confused and asked him to repeat what he said and he said "This dress, it looks just like the one you brought in today and it has a lovely asain lady wearing it and it looks like it was taken somewhere exotic."
I laughed and politely explain that these pictures were taken only about 3 days before my presentation, the other judges laughed and I gathered my things and exited the room and as I was the Girl who's in this picture was entering the room to set up her presentation. I told her I had a funny story for her and I walked away but only fast enough to hear the small man say 'That's the girl in the picture!'
