Probably the most glamorous photo treatment of a zombie I've ever seen. Who shoots zombies with a ringflash? Honestly.


Photoshop info:
A ton of other photogs showed up and fired away while I was trying to capture this image, so I had to fix the darker, unexposed band on the bottom of the frame from other people's un-synched strobes in Photoshop. This was the best shot out of the half dozen or so shots I managed to get. Desaturated the Incredible Hulk (pictured on the right) and cropped as much of him out of the frame as I could. Applied a cooling filter on everyone except Mr. Romero to make things a little more creepy, adjusted saturation for reds a little to make the blood not look so dark purple (still needs a lot of work), some burning and dodging, and finally I applied a 60% high pass filter on all but George Romero to make things look a little more surreal.

When light passes through glass, it gets bent. The amount that it gets bent depends on the wavelength of the light, so blue light gets bent more than red light. What ends up happening the red, green, and blue images of the same object end up a different size.

The top image is closeup photo of a swiss 2 franc coin that I took using a +4 diopter macro filter. Lenses are normally corrected for chromatic aberration, but the +4 diopter filter introduces a lot of CA near the outside of the image.

The second image is the bottom of the coin. As you can see, there is weird color banding on the coin because the red, green, and blue versions of the coin are slightly different sizes, so the bright edge in each version doesn't line up.

Photoshop CS2 has a "lens correction" filter in it which allows you to correct for chromatic aberration. The third image shows the lens correction filter. I've adjusted the chromatic aberration sliders so the red, green, and blue versions of the coin are the same size. The banding is gone.

The fourth image is the corrected bottom of the coin. Nifty! :-)
